My New Favorite BB Cream!

Hey guys! I hope you have all been well and I hope that all of my east coast readers stayed safe during hurricane Sandy! I have been pretty busy with classes and stuff, so I can't wait until this semester is over so I can just relax with my family and enjoy the holidays. I did something SUPER exciting today guys... I GOT A NEW PUPPY! She's a little micro mini chihuahua and is honestly the tiniest thing I have ever seen! I'm thinking of naming her Lola. Mrs. Giove recommended the name and I think it might fit her perfectly. I have a picture on my instagram (cathsquillace). So, if you guys want to take a look and give me name suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, moving on to the point of this post. Recently, Sephora sent me all 4 of the Dr. Jart BB Creams. I was so insanely excited to try them because the only BB Cream I ever used was the Garnier one from the drug store. I use the BB cream as sort of a base for my powder foundation. I by no means have nice or perfect skin so I need a lot of coverage. Let me just tell you guys, I was NOT disappointed. The Dr. Jart BB Creams are amazing. My personal favorite is the blue one, but they are all phenomenal. I will definitely purchase another tube when I run out because all 4 kinds are literally amazing.

As you guys can tell, sometimes I experience a little bit of writers block. Please, please, please (I can't say it enough) send me your recommendations on blog posts. I want to post what you guys want to read about so please let me know what you want to see! Even if it's not makeup related just let me know and I will try my best to fulfill your blog needs :) Sorry this post was short. I'll be brainstorming ideas for more posts soon since I will be home a lot with the new puppy. Stay safe & keep warm!

North Jersey Adventures

Hey guys! Right now I am sitting on my couch with my dogs eating pumpkin seeds (that my little sis made!) and watching Law & Order: SVU. It's starting to get chilly over here in Jersey and today it was super rainy and gloomy so after my classes I just sat on the couch with a blanket and haven't moved since. Moving on.... the past few weekends have been pretty hectic. So, I thought I'd fill you guys in on what I've been doing :)

OK Magazine :)
About two weeks ago I went to Alexa's baby shower! If you are a Jerseylicious/Glam Fairy fan you probably know that Alexa is expecting a baby girl in November. Let me just tell you guys, this was the most beautiful baby shower that I have ever been to. There was a candy bar (with personalized bags that you could fill up and take home!), customized games, and delicious food! Not to mention the ambiance in the room was perfect and very relaxing. I also got to meet Alexa's BFF Jon Kutlu. We talk on twitter all the time so it was so cool to finally meet him! It was absolutely amazing and I will seriously remember it for the rest of my life. Little McKayla is going to be the glammiest baby ever and I can't wait until she arrives so I can meet her! OK Magazine even covered the baby shower and I was shocked to see that I was included in the picture they put in the magazine! If you want to see more pictures from the baby shower, you can see them on my Instagram (cathsquillace).

Last weekend, I went to Verona to film as an extra for Jerseylicious at Anthony Robert Salon. It was a really cool experience and i'm really glad that I did it. The salon is BEAUTIFUL and I finally got to meet the gorgeous Mrs. Giove. She is literally one of the sweetest people I have ever met! Jackie did my hair and she was super nice. I'm not even sure if you'll be able to see me but when I find out what episode I filmed for I will definitely let you guys know! If you live in the area and are interested in filming for Jerseylicious, you can search Jerseyreality Showcasting on Facebook to see if there are any casting opportunities.

Finally..... A few days ago I went to the Glam Fairy Premiere Party! It was located at Teak on the Hudson and it was so much fun and the location was absolutely stunning. Almost all of the cast members of Glam Fairy were there as well as some of the Jerseylicious cast members. There were SO many people there! It was kind of overwhelming, but me and my best friend had a great time. Again, if you want to see more pictures from the event you can go to my instagram page, or look at my pictures on twitter (cathsquillace).

That's it for now guys, I hope your lives have been filled with exciting and happy things lately. Remember to book me as your makeup artist if you live in New Jersey or surrounding areas for any event. My e-mail is glitterocity@gmail.com. Have an amazing rest of the week and I will talk to you guys soon!

New Hair Color! :)

Hey guys, I didn't even realize that while I wasn't typing for awhile I got my hair done. I am a natural brunette, but I decided to finally make the jump to..... red hair! Demi Lovato is my hair idol, so the color was inspired by her dark red hair that she was sporting a couple of months ago. One of my best friends (who is a hair genius!) dyed it for me and I could not be happier with it. It is the perfect color for me and I always get compliments on it. If you live in the South Jersey area and are looking for an amazing hair colorist, please let me know and I can give you my friend's information because she is truly amazing!

Let me know what you guys think! I am absolutely obsessed with it and I will definitely be keeping this color for awhile. As always, let me know what kind of posts you would like to see. Unfortunately, I am not a mind reader so I don't know what posts you want to see unless you tell me ;) Thank you so much for reading, and I can't wait to share more posts with you guys. Have a great weekend!

Back from my hiatus & blk meet and greet!

Hi beauties, I am so sorry that I have been gone for so long. There was a death in the family, I have been working a ton, and I started classes again.  I am only taking two classes this semester so I can work on finding a new job and focus more on my makeup business. I decided to take an Intro. to Business class so I can get some tips about running my own business. Glam Academy gave me TONS of insight in running a business, but you can never have enough information! I am also taking an Abnormal Psych. class, because the human mind fascinates me. I am hoping to start YouTube videos soon because I want to share tutorials with you guys. Please, please let me know what you would like to see me write about on here. Like I said before, I love anything beauty or makeup related so I want to write about things YOU all want to see. I have been trying new products recently so I will probably post a collective haul/review post this week. I am also considering starting an instagram account for makeup looks and stuff, so let me know if you would be interested in that.

Okay, so as a little welcome back post I want to share something really fun that I just did! The other day my friend Kristen and I went to Wegman's for a blk water tasting/meet and greet. If you aren't familiar with blk, it is a water company that combines fulvic acid with the water which actually makes it black in color. Not only is it good for you, it tastes just like normal water and is insanely cool! The Manzos and Lauritas from The Real Housewives of New Jersey are involved with blk, so they went to Wegman's in Cherry Hill for a meet and greet. I have been a huge RHONJ fan since season one, so I was so excited to finally meet the people that I watch on TV every week. At the meet and greet were Albie Manzo and Chris Manzo, their mom Caroline Manzo, Jacqueline Laurita, and her husband Chris Laurita. There were a lot of people there to meet them, so we ended up waiting in line for about an hour and a half which wasn't too bad. This one lady even told me that I looked like Caroline's daughter Lauren. People have told me that before, but it was cool to be told by another fan of the show.

When we finally got to the table where they were all sitting, they all signed our bottles and were talking to us. Every single one of them was so incredibly nice. They thanked people for coming, when really they were the ones that should have been thanked. They took multiple pictures with everyone (which is rare) and they were just all so welcoming. It was such a great experience and I just wish I could relive it over and over. I will definitely be attending another meet and greet if they are ever in the area again. If you ever see that they are in your area, I would definitely recommend going and meeting them if you are a fan because I had such a great time. I definitely want to buy endless cases of blk and a blk t-shirt! If you would like to check out the blk website, purchase blk, or a blk t-shirt make sure to click here.

Thank you so much to the Manzos and the Lauritas for making this experience so amazing and being so nice to every single person. I wish you all the success in the world!

As always, e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com if you have any questions. I hope you all have a great week and I will be posting in a few days!

July Favorites!

I can't believe that it's already August! This summer flew by so quickly, I hope you all did some amazing things this summer. I have been feeling really unproductive for some reason, and i'm trying to definitely snap out of that since my college classes are starting back up in about a month! I have decided that I want to major in business because I believe it will benefit me in the long run in starting my own makeup company one day. I am excited to start this new journey and I would love to hear what you all are doing in the fall!

I worked A LOT in the month of July and beginning of August, so this month's favorite products are mostly things I was able to wear together to keep my makeup locked down through hours of humidity and sweating.  Let's get into the list!

1. Garnier BB Cream - this has been a life saver because I put it on before I apply my powder foundation and it keeps it in place and helps to keep my face looking flawless because it's tinted.

2. Pur Minerals Foundation - this powder has amazing coverage and definitely helps to absorb oil and sweat to keep my face looking less oily.

3. Urban Decay Primer Potion - I have been using this everyday to keep my eye shadow in place and it has been doing an amazing job. I know my eye makeup would be all over my face from sweating if I didn't use this.

4. Urban Decay Naked Palette - This has been my go-to for eye shadows this month. The colors are really natural looking and bright, so they open up my eyes and they definitely stay put when combined with the Primer Potion.

5. Kat Von D Setting Mist - I spray this on my entire face when my makeup is completed and it really locks down my makeup for the entire night. I honestly could not live without this product.

6. Bare Minerals Mineral Veil - This is also a last step product like the setting mist. I apply this to my whole face after my makeup is completed and it helps to keep the oil down on my face and give me a flawless look.

7. Elf Blotting Sheets - Of course in the heat, your face still gets a little oily. I use these blotting sheets to soak up the oil and they leave my face looking less oily and like I just applied my makeup.

8. MAC Lipsticks - I can't get over how long these lipsticks truly last. I can apply this before work and it literally stays on my lips for hours of working, talking, and eating. People always ask me what type of lipstick I use because it stays on FOREVER.

Well beauties, that is all of my favorites for now! I hope you enjoyed reading this and will try some of them. I would love to hear what your favorite products are and what you think of these products if you try or have tried any of them. Please send me requests for posts or tutorials that you want to see! I hope you all have an amazing rest of the week. Try to stay cool :)

The best way to apply concealer & my favorite makeup setting spray

Hi lovies! I just finished a six day work stretch at the ballpark, so i'm super excited to finally be off! I'm thinking of maybe bringing my camera to my cousin's house when I leave tomorrow so I will have the option of filming a tutorial or something if I get bored! The idea of filming kind of makes me nervous, but I really want to film a tutorial instead of just writing it all out like I usually do. That being said... let's get into the post!

I recently became a concealer fanatic in the last year because I needed something that would cover my under eye circles and the other imperfections on my face. I don't have a favorite brand yet, but if I come across one that stands out from the others I will definitely let you all know. I have tried applying concealer all different ways and though using your fingers or a makeup sponge does apply the product, they do not leave the same seamless finish that applying concealer with a concealer brush does. My favorite concealer brush is from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. I use the #003 brush and if you'd like to check it out you can see it on their website here. By using the brush, you are really able to blend the product into your skin so that there are no lines. I find that the product also seems to stay on longer when applied this way because it is really blended into your skin and not just sitting on top. If you use concealer, or are thinking of starting to use it I would definitely recommend investing in a concealer brush.

On to the next point of this post...... makeup setting spray. I believe that this product is essential all year for keeping your makeup in place, but it is especially useful in the summer. Since I work at the ballpark, I am basically working outside in the heat and humidity. I can definitely tell a difference in the way my makeup holds up between the days that I use the setting spray and the days that I do not. My absolute favorite makeup setting spray is by Kat Von D. This spray makes my makeup withstand sweating at work for 6+ hours at a time. It is literally amazing. This particular spray has a climate balancing technology in it so that it will keep your makeup intact for up to 16 hours to matter what the weather is like. Not to mention it hydrates your face and smells amazing!

Well, that's all for this post my loves. If you have a favorite concealer, I would love to know what it is to so I can try it. Also, if you try any of the products that I have mentioned in my posts I would love to know how you made out with them, so leave me comments telling me! And as always, if you have ANY requests please leave them in the comments or e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com!

One product you can't skimp on!

Hi loves! It is so nice to be writing again. I feel like I have been in a slump lately, but I am looking forward to posting again at least 3 or 4 times a week. I will be leaving on Friday for Pennsylvania because I am dog sitting for my cousin. But, I will be bringing my laptop with me so I can keep you all updated with posts and stuff! My best friend will be with me, so maybe I can even do some step by step picture tutorials!

This post is about something that I discovered recently. I'm usually always on the hunt for products that give you your money's worth because who doesn't love to save a few dollars? Well anyway, the other day I went to Walmart because I ran out of makeup wipes. I decided to try the Walmart brand Equate wipes instead of my usual Olay makeup wipes. I had absolutely no problems with the Olay wipes, but I figured since you get double the amount of wipes for less money I would try the Equate ones.

Basically, the Equate wipes are baby wipes with a different name. They smell just like baby wipes, so that's what I presume that they are. I didn't like them at all. They seem like they take forever to take my makeup off, and even then it doesn't feel like they take all of it off. Also, they seem to leave my skin feeling oily and not clean at all. I would not purchase these again because the quality is just poor. I will definitely stay loyal to my Olay makeup wipes from now on because they're the best I've tried and they definitely do their job.

I'd love to hear what your favorite brand of makeup wipes is. Also, if you have any requests please leave them in the comments!

My Favorite Hair Product

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in forever, but i'm hoping that my old posts kept you occupied :) I had an amazing time at the beach, the sun and sand definitely cleared my face up, and I got a good tan. I hope you all are having a good summer, and are giving yourselves time to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Like I said before, I am by no means a hair guru but I do know a good product when I see one. A couple of years ago, my cousin introduced me to Moroccan Oil and I have been using it ever since. This product is absolutely amazing. It makes your hair silky and shiny, but not greasy at all. My hair never feels softer, or looks shinier than when I use this oil. I don't use it everyday because it is expensive and I want it to last awhile, but you definitely could use it everyday if you wanted to. I usually put it in my hair while it's damp, and then I blow dry it to lock the product in. It keeps your hair soft and shiny until you wash it again, and that's what I love about it. You only need to use a little bit at a time, one bottle can literally last you over a year. I have long thick hair and since I don't use it everyday I have been using the same bottle for close to two years, so it is definitely worth the money because it lasts forever! I would recommend this product for any hair type because it works wonders and will result in so many compliments. Not only does this product make your hair look shiny, it conditions your hair too while your wearing it. Also, it reduces the drying time of your hair so it makes the blow drying process much quicker. I am a sucker for a product that does more than one thing, and this definitely does that.

On the Moroccan Oil website. It also says that this product can be useful when coloring your hair. Apparently, if you massage it into your hair before you color it and put a few drops into the hair color it will help your hair to absorb the color better. I have never tried this before, but I definitely will the next time I color my hair. The only tip I would recommend when using this product, is that you focus on your ends and work your way up to your scalp. It is a very thick oil, so I wouldn't recommend putting it directly on or near your scalp. This product is just amazing, and I will probably use it for the rest of my life!

If you would like to see any specific product reviews, tutorials, or anything else beauty related - please feel free to leave a comment or e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com!

I'm the curling master!

Hey guys! My 10 day work stretch is finally over and I can't wait to hit the beach for a few days! I'm so pale that I could pass as a Cullen from Twilight, so i'm really happy i'll finally have time to work on my tan! I hope you all had a great week and have great plans for the weekend.

Grace in full hair & makeup for Senior portraits
The other day, I did my friend Grace's makeup for her senior portraits (she's in my Makeup Transformation post). She asked me to do her hair for the pictures too and of course I said yes because i'm always up for a challenge. I have done people's hair before, but never for anything major. I have NO hair training whatsoever, so I was a little nervous but like I said - i'm game for almost anything when it comes to the beauty community. I used to think that the trick to keeping your hair in curls was hairspray... lots of hairspray. As I have educated myself online and with magazines, I now realize that tons of hairspray is unnecessary. As long as you know how to work a curling iron, the curls will stay!

Okay, so i'm not going to take you guys through the makeup process because that's obviously not new to me. That being said, if you like the makeup look featured in the picture, leave a comment or e-mail me and I will tell you what products I used and how to achieve the look! The first step in this hair process was to part the hair at the crown of the head. What I do is start at the temples and move around to the back of the head, then I put the hair on the top in a bun or a clip to keep it out of the way. My favorite curling iron to use is a wand that I got from one of those stands in the mall. It heats up quick and makes the curls last all day. I also like that there is no clamp because I think it's easier and quicker without one.

I typically curl smaller sections towards the face and larger sections towards the back because I just think it looks better that way. The sections usually go from about 1 inch to 1 & 1/2 inches so they're not drastically different, but I think it makes a difference in the long run. My friend's hairdresser taught me a trick when it comes to curling hair. By doing it the way she explained to me, you will achieve a Kardashian style look as opposed to a Shirley Temple look. First, you start the curl about 2 inches from the scalp - this will make the curls have a looser feel. It's important to make sure that you keep the hair flat as you wrap it around the curling iron. If you twist the hair, the curls will be small and springy instead of loose and glamorous. I also like to end the curl about an inch from the end of the piece of hair that you are curling. As the curls cool, I hairspray them and when I've finished curling the whole head I brush through all of the curls one by one.

Brushing through the curls may sound insane to some people, but it makes the curls look so loose and pretty. I use a round nylon brush and I just start at the top of the curl and follow all the way through the curl. This immediately adds to the length of the curl and definitely produces a Kardashian-like effect. This process may sound complicated, but I promise it's so easy and so worth it. I was super pleased with how Grace's hair and makeup came out and I will definitely be using this curling method more often because it turned out amazing! If you would like to see a video tutorial of my curling method, leave me a comment or shoot me and e-mail at glitterocity@gmail.com. Everyone have an amazing weekend and be sure to put on sunblock and stay hydrated if you'll be out in the sun! Love you all!

NOH8 photo shoot with my best friends!

Me, Jimmy, and Maci
Hi everyone, I hope you all are having an amazing week. I have been working non-stop & I have two more days of work to go until i'm off :) Anyway, this post is not really makeup related, but it does include something that is close to my heart. A couple of months ago, my friends and I went to a photo shoot for the NOH8 Campaign. For those of you who don't know, this campaign was created in response to Proposition 8 in California. It is said to be a silent protest to the proposition which bans gay marriage. I myself am not gay, but some of my friends are and it hurts my heart that they do not have the same rights that everyone else does. They did not choose who they were going to love and it is so unfair that this kind of harsh judgement is allowed to still occur.

I love the idea of these photos because it represents how people have been silenced because of this law. It also shows everyone that it is not acceptable to hate anyone no matter what they look like or what their sexual orientation is. I come from a very Christian family, so even though I strongly support gay marriage - my parents have a different view point. That being said, they still accept people for who they are even if that person is gay.

Me and Maci
This was not my first NOH8 shoot. A couple of years ago, I did one too and both times were completely amazing. To me, these photo shoots are so inspiring because you get to witness people coming together for something important. Not everyone that is there is gay, and that's the cool thing. Even if you are not being affected by something personally, just acknowledging that others are suffering is a big societal step in my opinion. I will forever support gay marriage and equal rights for everyone. The government should not have the right to tell people who they can and cannot love... all I can hope for is that more people open their minds and start pushing for equal rights.

If you have any questions, e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com & if you want to see when the next NOH8 photo shoot in your area is, you can visit the website here.

Makeup Transformation

As you all probably know, makeup can completely transform the way that a person looks. Earlier, I was sitting on the couch with my friend Grace and I had no idea what to blog about. When I asked her, she said that I should blog about her so that's exactly what i'm doing! I have known Grace for almost 10 years now, so it's safe to say that she is like a sister to me. She's basically the first person that I ever practiced doing makeup on, and now i'm honored that I get to do her makeup for every major event that comes up. Makeup by no means defines how pretty a person is, this post is about the transformation that occurs from a makeup application.

Grace is one of those people that is absolutely gorgeous with or without makeup on. Since we grew up together, I was always used to seeing her without makeup so even I was shocked to see how much it really transformed her. The "after" picture was taken on a laptop, so it is not the best quality, but you can definitely see the differences. The three main differences that I saw were: the eyeliner opened her eyes and brought out the color, the blush defined her cheekbones immensely and gave her face a more angular look, and the lipstick (I used OCC Lip Tar) defined the shape of her lips and made them look fuller. I'm really happy with how the finished look turned out considering I also did her hair in the bottom picture which i'm pretty proud of! :)

Makeup is so fun for me. I love transforming the way someone looks and making them feel better about themselves. For my whole life, I have enjoyed making people happy and doing makeup definitely makes that happen. One of the best feelings in the world is watching someone look in the mirror for the first time after their makeup is done. I know that I will have a passion for makeup for the rest of my life.

Thanks Grace for always letting me practice on you! You gave me the inspiration to keep going and i'm so honored that I get to do your makeup for all of the important things that happen in your life. I hope one day i'm doing your wedding makeup! Love you!

My Everyday Makeup Routine!

Hi beauties! I hope you all are having an amazing weekend. It's getting hotter by the minute in New Jersey & my siblings are almost done school so my house will be filled with complete summer madness in a couple of days! I have been wanting to post my everyday makeup routine for awhile, so i'm finally going to share with you guys what I do almost everyday!

Step 1: Moisturize! Depending on how much coverage I need for the day will determine how I moisturize my face. If I want less coverage I will just use a regular moisturizer (usually Ponds), if I want more coverage I use my Garnier BB cream.

Urban Decay Naked Palette
Step 2: Eyes. I always do my eyes before my foundation because that way if your eye shadow falls down onto your cheeks or whatever, you can just wipe it off with a makeup wipe and it doesn't ruin anything. To start my eyes I always use an eye shadow primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion or NYX Primer), this just holds your shadow in place all day and I can't imagine not using it. Then i'll do my eye makeup. Usually I will just use one of the shadows from my Naked palette during the summer because I like to keep a more natural look, but if i'm going out i'll definitely amp up my look with bolder shades. I usually don't wear eyeliner on my top lip everyday, but I do use the Maybelline Master Drama on my water line.

Step 3: Concealer/Foundation/Bronzer. I usually dab some concealer under my eyes because I have under eye circles, and sometimes I will apply it to imperfections on my face such as pimple or red spots. I have been using the Maybelline FIT concealer and I really like it, I usually pat in into my skin with my finger and then blend it with a sponge. Then, I apply my foundation. I have been using Pur Minerals forever... it is a powder foundation any you can buy it at any Ulta store. This foundation covers extremely well for a powder and I love it! I use the Pur Minerals foundation brush with it and it perfectly blends the powder into my skin. If i'm wearing bronzer, I will apply that next on my forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin with a foundation brush. I like to apply bronzer before blush because it adds a nice glow under the blush when it is applied.

Step 4: Blush & Highlight. My favorite blush at the moment is Pinch O' Peach from MAC. It is the perfect summer blush and I use it everyday! I obviously just apply this along my cheek bone. Next, I apply my Natural Glow by Physician's Formula. This gives my the perfect glow that I like. I apply this product with a fan brush above my blush and up towards my forehead (if that makes sense) and then I apply a little bit on my nose.

Kat Von D Setting Spray
Step 5: Setting spray. I always use my makeup setting spray by Kat Von D. This spray is refreshing, smells good, and keeps my makeup in place for hours even when i'm sweating at work. I love this stuff and it is essential to my makeup routine.

Step 6: Mascara. I always curl my lashes before I apply my mascara. Right now, my two favorite mascaras are Maybelline Falsies and Maybelline Mega Plush.

Step 7: Lipstick & Liner. I always apply a lip liner because I think it makes my lipstick look 100 times better. The liner helps to define the shape of your lips before you apply your lipstick. I am a lipstick addict, so I wear it almost everyday. For the summer, I like to wear light colors such as Angel and Pink Nouveau by MAC. I also love Sephora's lip liners because they have tons of colors and they are only $5 a piece.

I would love to hear about your everyday makeup routines and what works for you guys! If you have any questions or would like to see a video tutorial of this please leave a comment or e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com :)

Meet my kids!

Okay, i'm only 20 years old so I don't have human kids BUT I wanted to introduce you guys to my furry babies that I love as much as if they were "real" kids. Whoever suggested that cats don't get along with dogs has clearly never met my animals. All of my animals get along amazingly and I seriously don't know what my life would be like without them!

The picture is kind of hard to see, since when I woke up they were all sleeping like this and I had to take the picture with my camera on my phone! If you can't tell, I have two dogs and three kittens. I was only supposed to get one kitten, but there are six people in my family and somehow we ended up with three because everyone liked a different one, haha! Moving on.... my two dogs names are Ginger and Riley. Ginger is a little shih-tzu poodle mix and she is the love of my life! I got her when I was in 7th grade so I've had her the longest. Riley is a lab golden retriever mix. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She loves everybody and is super patient with the kittens. Now for the three babies! The black and white ones names are Elvira (Elvie for short) and Punky Head. Yeah, I know it's a weird name but when she was little her head was gigantic and it reminded me of a pumpkin! Last but not least, is my little grey kitten, Luna. They are all so precious and it is so fun watching them grow!

If you like personal posts like these, or would like to see updated pictures of my animals once in awhile e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com or tell me in the comments! I would also love to see pictures of your pets, so if you have an animal blog or whatever, send me the link!!!

Have a great rest of the week!

Multi-Purpose Product Review!

BB Creams have been taking the beauty world by storm. Many cosmetic brands have been releasing BB Creams and of course I (the curious product obsessed makeup artist) had to try it! What I learned is that BB actually stands for Beauty Balm and BB Creams are tinted balms that are designed to smooth out imperfections on the skin and cover blemishes while still giving the face a natural glow. The BB Cream that I decided to purchase is from Garnier. I got the Light/Medium cream (since I am as pale as Edward from Twilight) and it matches my skin tone almost perfectly. I think that as you rub it in, it allows some of your natural skin tone to show through, so even though Garnier only puts out two shades, they are pretty much universal.

I do not have perfect skin by any means. I have some red spots and discoloration, dark circles under my eyes, and i'm always getting pimples. It took a few times using this product before I realized how to use it that would benefit me the most. At first, I applied it over my moisturizer and after a few hours I realized this was a mistake. If you have oily skin, you do not need to apply a moisturizer before applying this product. I have been using this as a moisturizer when I wear it and it actually works very well. Not only does this act as a moisturizer, for me it also works as a primer for my powder foundation. Because of all of my skin imperfections, I feel that I still need to apply my powder foundation over the BB Cream. I would definitely wear the cream by itself if I was going to the beach, the movies, or to a friend's house to hang out. But, when I am going somewhere more "fancy" I definitely apply my powder to give me a flawless look.

So basically, I found out that this BB Cream has three uses. A moisturizer, a primer, and a foundation. It is priced at around $12, which you can't beat for all the things that it can be used for! I would definitely recommend this product if you prefer a more natural look or if you're looking for a good primer. If you try any other BB Cream brands, or have any questions about this product feel free to e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com!

Top 3 Summer Nail Polishes!

Hi my loves! I hope you all are having an amazing week! I just finished working a six day stretch at the stadium so I plan on posting more soon! I definitely want to post my everyday makeup routine for you guys & I have a product in mind that I want to review so definitely stay tuned for that. I also LOVE to hear what everyone's favorite products are at the moment, so if you have a must have product that you want to share with me, please e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com!

Now, let's get down to it! I am always on the hunt for new nail polishes. I would definitely call myself a nail polish junkie because I am completely obsessed and would buy a new bottle everyday if I could. I tend to steer towards darker colors, so most of my nail polishes are more winter colors. I am completely obsessed with black nail polish no matter what the season, but as I was going through my collection earlier today I decided I would share my 3 favorite summer colors with you!

1. Sweetheart by OPI - this color is absolutely gorgeous. It's kind of a pale pink mixed with white and i'm obsessed with it. I think it gives your hands a classy look and makes your skin look tanner. You do have to apply about 3 or 4 coats to make the color stand out, but it is definitely worth it.

2. Pink Friday by OPI - this color was in the Nicki Minaj collection and it is literally the perfect bubblegum pink. It has kind of a neon feel to it - which I love! I am completely obsessed with this color and if you are thinking of getting it definitely act quickly because it won't be available for much longer. I ordered mine off of amazon a few weeks ago and I am sooo happy that I decided to get it.

3. Mermaid Tears by OPI - the name alone makes me love this nail polish. This color is such a pretty sea-foam green mixed with turquoise. I'm obsessed with this color and I always find myself going back to it during the summer months. This color was released in the Pirates of the Caribbean collection, but i'm sure you could find it online as well.

I hope you guys like the colors I picked. I would love to hear what some of your favorite summer polishes are, because I am obsessed with nail polish! Please e-mail me and tell me what some of your favorites are!

My favorite scent for summer & who I think should play Christian Grey!

As you all know, summer is approaching very quickly. I am the type of person that has to have some type of body spray or perfume on me before I leave the house. I just like knowing that when people are around me they will smell an amazing scent. I typically change up the scents that I wear with the season because some scents smell more "summery" or "wintery" than others. Last year, I found the perfect summer scent. The smell is literally the definition of a summer scent and it is perfect! Are you ready to find out what it is??? *drum roll please*.......... Bronze Goddess by Estee Lauder! This perfume is absolutely amazing and I could not imagine my summer without it. If you would like to see what notes make up this perfect summer fragrance, you can check it out on the Estee Lauder website here. I can't rave enough about this scent, it smells sooo good!

My next order of business is to tell you all that I am completely obsessed with the book 50 Shades of Grey. Since everyone was talking about it, I decided that I had to read it and I am so glad that I did. I am currently on book number two of the trilogy and I can't wait to see what happens! If you have read it, then i'm sure that you have an idea of who you would like to play Christian Grey. As I was watching The Bachelorette last night, I realized that Kalon McMahon "Helicopter Guy" would be the perfect Christian Grey. Not only is he absolutely gorgeous, he flies a helicopter AND has an impeccable vocabulary like Mr. Fifty Shades himself. If you are a 50 Shades of Grey addict, e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com and tell me who you think should play Christian and Anastasia.

Memorial Day Weekend Madness!

Hello my beauties. I am so sorry that I have not posted in awhile, I hope you all had amazing Memorial Day weekends! My weekend was a hectic one for sure! On Friday, I went shopping and out to dinner with my best friend. Saturday something was wrong with my car so that had to be taken care of, and then I went to an ABC (Anything But Clothes) Party at my friend's house (I wore clothes though!). Some of the outfits were really creative and I had a good time! On Saturday, I went to the beach with my friends and my aunt. Then we went to the boardwalk and shopped a little bit before heading home. Today was pretty laid back. My family opened our pool this weekend so in the morning I helped my parents clean it and stuff, then I just hung around with my dad all day (he's the greatest person I know).

I have been having a little bit of writer's block lately with my posts so I decided to just do a post explaining my favorite products at the moment and why I am absolutely in love with them! Okay, the first thing on my list is Urban Decay Primer Potion. This stuff is amazing. I basically work outside and even though i'm sweating in the heat for hours, my eye makeup does not budge with this product. I feel that you could even wear this product by itself because it evens out the skin on your eyes and just makes them look clean and bright. The second thing I have recently fallen back in love with is Pond's Cold Cream. This cream is so amazing for removing makeup. It does not have a harsh smell or dry out your skin, it literally seems like it melts the makeup off of my face and it leaves my skin feeling silky smooth. My next favorite product is my Mint Julep Lip Scrub by LUSH. For some reason, my lips tend to peel sometimes. If you have never tried a lip scrub before I would definitely check out the ones from LUSH. They literally exfoliate all of the dead skin on my lips and it tastes amazing too! The next product I have been loving is Twilight Woods Body Wash. I got this body wash from Bath and Body works and it smells AMAZING. It is unlike any other smell I have ever smelled before. The key notes in this scent are said to be: juicy berry, soft mimosa, apricot nectar, and warm woods. The only thing that I can say is that you have to try it because it's amazing! My last product that I am loving right now is my new blush Punch O' Peach from MAC. This blush is the perfect summer blush for me. I have really pale skin and it just looks amazing no matter what I am wearing on my eyes. I think it would go great with any skin tone and it is definitely my favorite blush right now!

Well guys, that's it for now! Like I said, I hope you all had an amazing weekend and I wish you all a great week. I would love to hear some of your favorite products because I always love trying new things. If you have any blog post suggestions or would like me to review any products feel free to e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com :)

Get rid of blackheads with this product!

Hi my beauties! Sorry I have not been posting a lot lately, but work has been crazy and I just finished my second year of college. I got all A's this semester so I am really proud of myself, but I am definitely ready to get my summer vacation started. I hope you all had an amazing weekend, and I hope this week isn't too stressful!

Anyway, I started noticing that I was getting blackheads near and on my nose and a little bit in the area under my bottom lip. I think it was mostly because I wear makeup to work and since I am around food and i'm sweating, the dirt gets into my pores causing blackheads. I knew that I needed something to get rid of these awful blackheads, so I went in search of a product to eliminate them and I think I found it. I ended up purchasing the Swiss Formula Blemish & Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub by St. Ives. I started using it a couple weeks ago and I definitely see a significant decrease in the amount of blackheads on my face. I also notice that the rest of my skin is clearing up and feels smoother too.

The bottle recommends that this product should be used three to four times a week. I followed this for the first week, but this week I have been using it everyday and it is working out fine. It doesn't have a harsh smell like other products do, it smells amazing and feels amazing on your skin. I will definitely be repurchasing this product after I use it all... which probably won't be awhile since there is a lot in the bottle. Basically, this is an amazing product and you definitely get your money's worth!

If you liked this review and want to see more of them, definitely e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com. Also, if you have any review requests, or topics you want to see me blog about e-mail me there too! :)

Mrs. Giove's Must Haves!

Mrs. Giove & Angel, shot by Alexa Prisco
If you're a huge Jerseylicious fan like I am, you are familiar with Filippo's gorgeous mom, Mrs. Giove. Over the past couple of months I have gotten the chance to talk to Mrs. Giove on Twitter and Facebook, and I have to say that she is one of the sweetest and most genuine people that I have ever gotten the opportunity to speak with. Not only is she beautiful on the inside, but she is GORGEOUS on the outside too. I decided to ask her what her favorite beauty products were and she was kind enough to share them with me.

The first products that Mrs. G uses to stay flawless are La Mer products. These products use sea kelp to keep the skin looking amazing. Also, they make the skin appear renewed, softer, smoother, and more refined. La Mer's most known product is Creme de la Mer, which is a moisturizing cream. This company also offers products specifically designed for the face and for the body. La Mer also has liquid and powder foundation. This line of products seems absolutely amazing and I look forward to trying them in the future! If you want to check out these products, you can visit their website here.

The next product that Mrs. Giove recommended was Societe Eye Cream. I had never heard of this product before, so I decided to see what it was all about. This eye cream is said to be a two step age reversal regimen designed to combat aging around the eyes. This cream actually had a five star rating on the Dermstore website, and I'm sure if Mrs. G uses it, it must be amazing.

The third thing on the list was MAC Makeup Wipes. I personally have never used them, but I heard that they are amazing. I have spoken with other people who use MAC wipes and they have said that they take all of their makeup off with one swipe. The cool thing about this product is that they are infused with vitamin E, so they hydrate and nourish your skin as you remove your makeup!

The last two products on Mrs. G's list were Neutrogena facial cleanser and a Clarasonic brush. Mrs. G uses these products together to cleanse her skin. I have heard nothing but great things about the Clarasonic brush and I definitely plan on purchasing one. The Clarasonic brush is said to shed years off of your skin and it provides impressive results. On the Sephora website there is a whole Clarasonic section where you can view all of the products, see before and afters, and watch videos on how to use the brush, so if you are considering purchasing one I would definitely check that out!

If you want to achieve Mrs. Giove's gorgeous glowing appearance, you should definitely consider purchasing some or all of these products. I would like to thank Mrs. G for sharing her favorite products with me so I could share them with you guys! Make sure to catch her and the rest of the cast on Jerseylicious (Sundays at 8pm on the Style Network). Also, if you want to follow Mrs. Giove on Twitter, just click here. Thank you so much for reading! If you have any requests or questions, feel free to e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com.

Sunday Random Post!

Hi my loves! I was thinking of starting Sunday Random posts. Basically, on Sundays I will talk about subjects that aren't makeup related to break the blog up a bit. Would you guys want to see that? If you would, you can always suggest the Sunday topic by e-mailing me at glitterocity@gmail.com! If I pick your topic, I can credit you in the post if you leave your name, twitter username, etc. Please let me know what you think because I want this blog to cater to what you all want to see! I'm going to type one to give you a little example of what they'll be so you can decide...

This week's Sunday random post is going to focus on music! I love having music playing when i'm getting ready, or when i'm doing someone else's makeup. For me, I feel weird if i'm in a completely silent situation so it's always better to have music playing. I like all kinds of music... my best friend is actually a music guru. so she is constantly showing me all of the newest and most amazing music. My favorite songs change all the time, but here are a few of my favorite songs right now:

  • Changin' (Tommy Rogers Edit) - Chris Cox & DJ Tommy Rogers
  • Feel It In My Bones (feat. Tegan & Sara) - Tiesto
  • Give Your Heart a Break - Demi Lovato
  • Now That I've Found You (feat. Nikki Reed) - Paul McDonald
  • Some Nights - Fun.
As you can see, my taste in music varies! But I hope if you guys haven't heard these songs already, you will listen to these and love them as much as I do! I love hearing about new songs, so e-mail me and tell me what you're listening to! I hope you all have an amazing week :) Until next time......

My Favorite Lipsticks!

Hi loves! I have recently become obsessed with lipsticks and I have started wearing them almost every day. I never realized how rare it is for a person my age to wear lipstick until I started going to class and noticing that I was the only one there that had it on! Personally, I think lipstick can be worn anywhere and it definitely brings a makeup look together. I have developed a good size lipstick collection, some I love and others I just like. So, i'm going to give you guys my top five and a little explanation of the colors!

  1. Chatterbox by MAC - this is my favorite lipstick by far. It is so bright and fun, but it isn't too much. I love wearing this with a natural looking eye. I just think that it gives my look a nice punchy girly feel and I LOVE that.
  2. Fruity Orange by Givenchy - this was my first statement lipstick. It's so deep orange that it almost looks red, but it goes really well with my skin tone. Although the texture of this lipstick is not as great at the MAC lipsticks, the color is phenomenal.
  3. Angel by MAC - love love love this color! It's kind of like a nude washed out pick that just goes with anything. If you're going for a Kim K look then this is definitely for you.
  4. F.T.W. by Kat Von D - this lipstick is from Kat's foil lipstick line. I love the shimmer in it, it just makes it so different from any other lipstick i've ever had. This is kind if a dark cranberry color. It is my staple lip color for winter.
  5. Snob by MAC - this is the funnest lipstick ever! It's a bright pale girly pink and it instantly boosts my mood when I put it on. This was the first MAC lipstick that I ever bought and I will definitely keep buying it forever!
I hope you guys get a chance to try some of these shades because they are truly amazing. I want to hear what some of your favorite lipsticks are! E-mail them to me at glitterocity@gmail.com or comment on this post. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!

New Blog Design & Be Tan Without Harmful Rays!

First of all, what do you guys think of the makeover on the blog?! I'm in love with it and I think it's so perfect for summer! All of the bright colors just make me so happy when I look at them & I hope it does the same for you guys! I'm a sucker for anything cute and girly :)

Moving on..... I am the palest person ever. Like, I could literally be mistaken as a member of the Cullen family (from Twilight). Lately, I've been wanting a tan but after seeing so many things about skin cancer from tanning beds on TV and online I definitely did not want to spend over $80 on a monthly tanning membership that would fry my skin! So... I decided to take the self-tanner route. I have heard of multiple self-tanners, but since i'm always looking for a bargain I decided to go with Jergen's Natural Glow. I picked up a large bottle for my body and a small bottle specifically designed for the face. I was skeptical at first, because when the lotion comes out, it is pure white. I never imagined that it would work as great as it does! I have only been using it for three days, but I already see a HUGE difference. I am no longer translucent! I have a beautiful bronze glow and I couldn't be more happy with this product!

I really wish that I had taken a before picture so that you guys could see. The difference is literally amazing and I would recommend this to anyone that wants to be tanner without damaging their skin. I will probably use this product for the entire summer because the results are so impressive!

side note* since my classes will be finishing up this week, I will have all the time in the world to make YouTube videos and blog so let me know what you wanna see!!!

My New Obsession - Dry Shampoo!

Hey guys! I hope all of your weeks are going great and moving quickly! It's supposed to be 80 degrees on Friday where I live (Southern New Jersey), I think I might go to the beach for the first time this season! This post is inspired by my own personal experience this month. I have been hearing about dry shampoos for awhile now, but I just never picked any up because I never felt that I needed it. I have had brown hair for my whole life... the biggest change I ever did was put highlights in or get colorful extensions. Recently, I was ready for a bigger change. So, a couple weeks ago I went to my friend and she dyed my hair red and I am completely in love with it! I feel like I was meant to be a red head.

Anyway, my friend Sage told me that I shouldn't wash my hair everyday (which I usually do), because the color wouldn't last as long. I was stuck in a vicious cycle... because I was washing my hair so much, it was drying out my scalp and causing it to create more oil. So, my hair was ALWAYS greasy after a day so I had to wash it. Washing your hair everyday is not healthy because it dries out your hair and your scalp. Moving on... I decided to pick up a little can of Tresemme Fresh Start dry shampoo. I literally use this shampoo every other day because it's amazing and so EASY to use! All you have to do is shake the can and spray the product on your roots. Then you wait two minutes and massage it into your scalp and roots. This stuff literally makes it look like you just washed your hair. It even gives you some volume and it smells good too!

I would definitely recommend buying some dry shampoo if you color your hair and want the dye to last longer. Or if you just want to keep your hair healthier and less dry. If you have any questions about dry shampoo or would like a YouTube video on how to apply it, e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com or leave a comment!

Blending, blending, & more blending!

Hi beauties! I woke up early today to type up my LAST english paper of the semester. I can't wait for my classes to be over so I can start taking big steps to set my career as a makeup artist in a faster paced motion. Anyway, I decided to write a blog post because there is nothing I love more than talking about makeup at 9:30 in the morning (not being sarcastic, it's really all I think about!!!) So, today i'm going to focus on blending because I think it is ESSENTIAL to create the perfect makeup look. Blending should be used on your eyes AND your face. You want a seamless look - not like you have layers of makeup on your face.

Blending is a no brainer. Honestly, if you have a decent set of brushes then blending is possible. I like to use the "dry brush" technique on my eye makeup especially. By dry brushing your makeup, it helps to reduce harsh lines (especially eye makeup). To dry brush all you have to do is take a brush with no product on it, and blend out the edge of the color you just applied. I usually do this after I apply my crease color so that it will easily blend into the eyebrow highlight!

I really don't know what else I could say about blending because it is such a simple technique. If you want to see a tutorial on blending or any other beauty related videos - comment on this post, or e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com. Also, if you have any suggestions for blog posts, or want me to review a product you can e-mail me that too! Like I said before, I want this blog to be for my readers (not just me rambling!) So let me know what you wanna see!

Eyeliner - types, tips, & tricks!

Hey guys! I figured i'd spice things up a bit & go for hot pink writing, do you like it? haha. Anyway... today's post is all about eyeliner. When I don't have my hands in makeup, I work at the Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia. Yesterday some of the ladies and I were having an eyeliner discussion since I wore a heavy wing look with red lips to work (pin-up inspired of course!) My friend said that she tried to apply eyeliner but it turned out a mess! So, I figured she couldn't be the only one with this problem and I figured I would post about it!
***I think I might even do a YouTube video on this, so I will keep you guys updated!

Okay, so there are many formulas of eyeliner available right now. You have pencils, powders, gels, and liquids. They all have their different purposes, but i'm going to tell you what I like to use the most and how I get my perfect wing! I used to be a faithful liquid eyeliner user, until I discovered gel liner! I am obsessed with gel liner now, it is literally amazing. Don't get me wrong, I still use my liquid at times! But in my opinion, gel is the easiest to work with.

This is my process: Maybelline make an intense gel liner, I'm literally obsessed with it. It come with a brush that i'm not really a fan of, so I usually use a very thin eyeliner brush that I got in a Bare Minerals kit or a use my MAC angled eye brush (I believe the number is 266). So first, I dip my eyeliner in the gel pot and then I wipe off the excess on a paper towel or a sponge. Then, I start in the middle of my eyelid close to the lash line. Eyeliner should be done in small strokes to reduce the risk of messing up! After that, i'll move on to the inner corner of my eye and connect the line that I made in the center. THEN, it's time to start the wing!!!

REMEMBER, it does not have to look perfect at first! That's what makeup wipes and Almay Q-tips are for. To fix your mistakes! Don't think too much into the wing either! A couple of people I have talked to get so nervous when it comes to doing a wing that they end up psyching themselves out and mess up, it's just makeup - not rocket science. For me, I start my wing where my middle line ends and I just extend the liner to the desired point on my face. Usually, I have the tip of my wing directly point to the end of my eyebrow. Then I connect the tip to the outer corner of my eye. Most of the time, my line isn't perfect straight on the bottom slant. So, I just take an Almay Q-tip an roll it along the bottom slant to make it more precise. Then just repeat these steps on the other side and your set! Perfect Wing!

If you're like me, your wings sometimes end up being more rounded at the tip. If you have this problem too, this is where the liquid liner comes in! I use Kat Von D tattoo liner and make my perfect point. This liner is amazing because you don't have to dip it in anything, the product just comes out of the perfectly pointed brush applicator! All I do to get the perfect point is go a little beyond the end of the wing and use the brush to make the point. It is that simple! If you would like to see a YouTube video on this or have any questions, don't hesitate to e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com!

Product Review!

Hey guys! So I decided that I would start reviewing products on here too. I love sharing stuff with you all that I find useful. If you would like me to review a product, or know of any good ones you want to tell me about please e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com.

Ocean Salt Exfoliating Cleanser
Lately, my skin has just been feeling blah. I usually use a normal face wash in the shower, and moisturize after but I just felt like I needed something more. I think I finally found what I was missing! I am usually weary of using an exfoliating cleanser because usually they are pretty harsh on your skin. I have sensitive skin so if I use one wrong product it can effect me for days. For example, I tried to use proactiv a couple months ago & it burned my eyelids! Anyway, this cleanser is from LUSH so it is all natural and can be used on your face or body. It is a very light formula and it kind of reminds me of a gritty mousse which sounds weird but I promise it's very cool. I typically use this 2-3 times a week, and after each use it has my skin feeling smooth for days. I love this product and I don't have one bad thing to say about it. It smells amazing too, which is important! I will always try to have this product on hand because it is so amazing and perfect for your face and your body. So, if you are looking for a gentle exfoliating cleanser to add to your skin care routine I would definitely try Ocean Salt by LUSH!

My Glam Academy Experience

As a final assignment, Alexa had us e-mail her about how the Glam Academy transformed us. I figured that I would also share with you guys how it changed me in case any of you lovely readers were thinking of taking the course! :) I could talk about this course forever, but i'm going to try and keep it kind of short so you guys don't get bored with me rambling on about how much I loved it! The confidence I feel in myself and my makeup abilities is outstanding. Before this course, I literally was so shy and shaky when it came to doing someone else's makeup. Now I know that I am a great makeup artist, and I can do anything I set my mind to. I learned that there are no rules when it comes to doing makeup. If you need to use more than one eyeliner type to create the perfect wing, DO IT. If you want to use and eye shadow pigment on your lips, GO FOR IT. There are no rules when it comes to makeup and that is one of the many things that I love about it. I learned so much from Alexa, and I will be forever grateful for all the things that she has taught me. She literally transformed me as a person and it is nothing short of amazing. I am no longer the shy girl that doesn't say a word, I stick up for myself and I know how to be a powerful individual. Glam Academy changed my life, and I can't imagine where I would be without it. So, if any of you out there are thinking of taking it, DO IT. I promise you will not regret it - it will change your life.

*I'm going to make a video soon talking about Glam Academy, I will post it for you guys after I film it, xoxo.

First Editorial Shoot & Other Fun Make Up Days!

Yesterday was a HUGE day for my and the rest of my glammy classmates! We all did amazing editorial make up and for most of us, it was the first time ever doing an editorial look. I chose to do a mermaid inspired look and it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Alexa helped me so much and the final result was unbelievable. I can't wait to see the pictures and I can't wait to show them to all of you!

I also had the opportunity to help Alexa do make up for a sweet 16 and for a wedding! Both of the days were such amazing learning experiences and I had so much fun. I am so thankful that she asked me to help her, not only did I get to do make up, but I got to do make up with one of the people that inspires me the most. I never thought that I would love my life as much as I do right now and I am so grateful for all of the opportunities that have come my way.

Make Up Tip #6

How to fill in your eyebrows.

For the longest time I was not sure how to fill in eyebrows, so I just didn't do it. Once I learned how to correctly fill in someone's eyebrows, I now do it more often because of the way it changes a person's face. One of the most valuable quotes that I learned by Alexa in Glam Academy is, "eyebrows are sisters, not twins." This is very important, your eyebrows do not have to look identical because they AREN'T identical. When filling in your eyebrows, use your top hairs as a guide. Lastly, if you have light hair you should fill your eyebrows in with a shade that is about two shades darker than your natural hair color and if you have dark hair you should use a shade that is about two shades lighter than your hair color.

Some of my Favorite Beauty Products!

Hey guys! So I figured to change my posts up a bit I would write a list of my favorite beauty products. I'm going to try and list as many of my drugstore favorites as I can to keep the list rather inexpensive. I hope you guys are able to try some of them because I have tried them all personally and they are absolutely amazing.

1. Kat Von D's tattoo liner in Trooper - usually people save the best for last, but i'm going to tell you guys my favorite product first! This is the BEST product ever! It's so easy to use, draws thin and thick lines, and it literally does not move all day. It does the perfect wing or cat eye and it's so precise. INCREDIBLE.

2. Maybelline Master Drama eyeliner in Midnight Master - I recently bought this and I am obsessed with it. I use it for my waterline and the change really is dramatic! It draws on the darkest line and it is very long lasting. I am thoroughly impressed with it and you can't beat the price!

3. Maybelline Falsies mascara in Black Drama - okay, favorite mascara ever! It literally makes your lashes look 10x's longer and fuller. It is the blackest black of all the mascaras that I have ever tried and I will probably use this mascara forever.

4. Physician's Formula shimmer strips in Healthy Glow - this is a perfect inexpensive cheek highlight and the color that it translates to on the skin is absolutely beautiful. I use a fan brush and just pop some on my cheek bones, forehead, nose, and a little bit on my chin and BOOM - instant glow. Amazing!

5. Too Faced Leopard Love complexion perfection kit - this kit is adorable! I'm obsessed with the blush right now because it is the perfect rosy color. I love the bronzer in the summer and the brightener is great too. Not to mention that it's the cutest make up ever because it is all leopard print.

I'm definitely hoping to do more of these! Let me know if you guys want me to do more of these or if you want other specific lists like just focusing on eye products, or lip products.

Glam Rock Photo Shoot :)

This was on the last day of Basic Glammy training! Erin, Alexa, & I with our beautiful Glam Rock models :)

Transformation

I honestly can not believe what 5 days of the Glam Academy did for me. On the first day, I felt so timid and unsure of myself. I was so nervous doing the make up on my first model. By the last day of basic training, I could notice a complete difference in the way that I act and handle situations. I am so much more confident in my self and in my skills and it's all thanks to Alexa. She is an amazing teacher... not only did she teach us amazing make up skills and techniques, but I learned so many valuable life lessons from her as well. She truly is my hero and I will be forever grateful that I had the chance to be her student. I can't wait to start taking the next steps towards developing my business and make up career.

My First Model Experiences!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile guys, these past couple of days have been pretty hectic! I spent Sunday and Monday at the Glam Academy and then on Tuesday I started my regular college classes back up. Anyway, on Sunday I got to do make up on my first model ever! I was so nervous, but excited at the same time because I've never done make up on some one I didn't know before. Even though I was nervous when I started doing the make up on my model, after a few minutes I just stopped thinking too much into it & started doing my thing. The make up turned out AMAZING & I was so happy because my model was so happy with it! I can't wait to see the pictures & i'll definitely post them on here so you guys can see! On Monday, we worked with models again & even though the day was long, it was one of the most amazing days of my life. One of the only times that I don't feel like i'm on auto-pilot is when i'm doing make up because I just enjoy doing it so much & I actually feel like I have a purpose when i'm doing it. I'm going to post a picture of one of the models I did on Monday so you guys can see them! And as soon as Alexa sends me the pictures that she took i'll post them too! I hope that whoever reads this can find the one thing that makes them happy, because everyone deserves to experience the happiness that doing make up brings to me! Thank you so much for reading this! If there's anything you want me to blog about, just comment on this post or shoot me an e-mail!

Here's the picture of one of my models from Monday. Isn't she gorgeous?!

Make Up Tip #5

Don't Get Discouraged!

So, this isn't an actual technical tip... more like a little motivational post. Over this past week, I have become so motivated about my make up career. I'm so happy that I finally found my niche :)  If you love make up and want to pursue a career in it, don't let anything hold you back! I remember when I first considered being a make up artist, I would always get so mad at myself if I messed my eyeliner up or if I couldn't perfect a smokey eye. But then I realized that the beauty of make up is that if you make a mistake, you can just wipe it all off and start over. There's no permanence when applying make up (unless you choose to get it tattooed on!) As long as you're doing what you love, you just have to keep trying until you get it right. Don't ever let anyone discourage you from pursuing your dreams because at the end of the day, the only person's happiness that really matters is your own.

xoxo,
Catherine
