Blending, blending, & more blending!

Hi beauties! I woke up early today to type up my LAST english paper of the semester. I can't wait for my classes to be over so I can start taking big steps to set my career as a makeup artist in a faster paced motion. Anyway, I decided to write a blog post because there is nothing I love more than talking about makeup at 9:30 in the morning (not being sarcastic, it's really all I think about!!!) So, today i'm going to focus on blending because I think it is ESSENTIAL to create the perfect makeup look. Blending should be used on your eyes AND your face. You want a seamless look - not like you have layers of makeup on your face.

Blending is a no brainer. Honestly, if you have a decent set of brushes then blending is possible. I like to use the "dry brush" technique on my eye makeup especially. By dry brushing your makeup, it helps to reduce harsh lines (especially eye makeup). To dry brush all you have to do is take a brush with no product on it, and blend out the edge of the color you just applied. I usually do this after I apply my crease color so that it will easily blend into the eyebrow highlight!

I really don't know what else I could say about blending because it is such a simple technique. If you want to see a tutorial on blending or any other beauty related videos - comment on this post, or e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com. Also, if you have any suggestions for blog posts, or want me to review a product you can e-mail me that too! Like I said before, I want this blog to be for my readers (not just me rambling!) So let me know what you wanna see!

Eyeliner - types, tips, & tricks!

Hey guys! I figured i'd spice things up a bit & go for hot pink writing, do you like it? haha. Anyway... today's post is all about eyeliner. When I don't have my hands in makeup, I work at the Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia. Yesterday some of the ladies and I were having an eyeliner discussion since I wore a heavy wing look with red lips to work (pin-up inspired of course!) My friend said that she tried to apply eyeliner but it turned out a mess! So, I figured she couldn't be the only one with this problem and I figured I would post about it!
***I think I might even do a YouTube video on this, so I will keep you guys updated!

Okay, so there are many formulas of eyeliner available right now. You have pencils, powders, gels, and liquids. They all have their different purposes, but i'm going to tell you what I like to use the most and how I get my perfect wing! I used to be a faithful liquid eyeliner user, until I discovered gel liner! I am obsessed with gel liner now, it is literally amazing. Don't get me wrong, I still use my liquid at times! But in my opinion, gel is the easiest to work with.

This is my process: Maybelline make an intense gel liner, I'm literally obsessed with it. It come with a brush that i'm not really a fan of, so I usually use a very thin eyeliner brush that I got in a Bare Minerals kit or a use my MAC angled eye brush (I believe the number is 266). So first, I dip my eyeliner in the gel pot and then I wipe off the excess on a paper towel or a sponge. Then, I start in the middle of my eyelid close to the lash line. Eyeliner should be done in small strokes to reduce the risk of messing up! After that, i'll move on to the inner corner of my eye and connect the line that I made in the center. THEN, it's time to start the wing!!!

REMEMBER, it does not have to look perfect at first! That's what makeup wipes and Almay Q-tips are for. To fix your mistakes! Don't think too much into the wing either! A couple of people I have talked to get so nervous when it comes to doing a wing that they end up psyching themselves out and mess up, it's just makeup - not rocket science. For me, I start my wing where my middle line ends and I just extend the liner to the desired point on my face. Usually, I have the tip of my wing directly point to the end of my eyebrow. Then I connect the tip to the outer corner of my eye. Most of the time, my line isn't perfect straight on the bottom slant. So, I just take an Almay Q-tip an roll it along the bottom slant to make it more precise. Then just repeat these steps on the other side and your set! Perfect Wing!

If you're like me, your wings sometimes end up being more rounded at the tip. If you have this problem too, this is where the liquid liner comes in! I use Kat Von D tattoo liner and make my perfect point. This liner is amazing because you don't have to dip it in anything, the product just comes out of the perfectly pointed brush applicator! All I do to get the perfect point is go a little beyond the end of the wing and use the brush to make the point. It is that simple! Product Review!

Hey guys! So I decided that I would start reviewing products on here too. I love sharing stuff with you all that I find useful. If you would like me to review a product, or know of any good ones you want to tell me about please e-mail me at glitterocity@gmail.com.

Ocean Salt Exfoliating Cleanser
Lately, my skin has just been feeling blah. I usually use a normal face wash in the shower, and moisturize after but I just felt like I needed something more. I think I finally found what I was missing! I am usually weary of using an exfoliating cleanser because usually they are pretty harsh on your skin. I have sensitive skin so if I use one wrong product it can effect me for days. For example, I tried to use proactiv a couple months ago & it burned my eyelids! Anyway, this cleanser is from LUSH so it is all natural and can be used on your face or body. It is a very light formula and it kind of reminds me of a gritty mousse which sounds weird but I promise it's very cool. I typically use this 2-3 times a week, and after each use it has my skin feeling smooth for days. I love this product and I don't have one bad thing to say about it. It smells amazing too, which is important! I will always try to have this product on hand because it is so amazing and perfect for your face and your body. So, if you are looking for a gentle exfoliating cleanser to add to your skin care routine I would definitely try Ocean Salt by LUSH!

My Glam Academy Experience

As a final assignment, Alexa had us e-mail her about how the Glam Academy transformed us. I figured that I would also share with you guys how it changed me in case any of you lovely readers were thinking of taking the course! :) I could talk about this course forever, but i'm going to try and keep it kind of short so you guys don't get bored with me rambling on about how much I loved it! The confidence I feel in myself and my makeup abilities is outstanding. Before this course, I literally was so shy and shaky when it came to doing someone else's makeup. Now I know that I am a great makeup artist, and I can do anything I set my mind to. I learned that there are no rules when it comes to doing makeup. If you need to use more than one eyeliner type to create the perfect wing, DO IT. If you want to use and eye shadow pigment on your lips, GO FOR IT. There are no rules when it comes to makeup and that is one of the many things that I love about it. I learned so much from Alexa, and I will be forever grateful for all the things that she has taught me. She literally transformed me as a person and it is nothing short of amazing. I am no longer the shy girl that doesn't say a word, I stick up for myself and I know how to be a powerful individual. Glam Academy changed my life, and I can't imagine where I would be without it. So, if any of you out there are thinking of taking it, DO IT. I promise you will not regret it - it will change your life.

*I'm going to make a video soon talking about Glam Academy, I will post it for you guys after I film it, xoxo.
