My First Model Experiences!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile guys, these past couple of days have been pretty hectic! I spent Sunday and Monday at the Glam Academy and then on Tuesday I started my regular college classes back up. Anyway, on Sunday I got to do make up on my first model ever! I was so nervous, but excited at the same time because I've never done make up on some one I didn't know before. Even though I was nervous when I started doing the make up on my model, after a few minutes I just stopped thinking too much into it & started doing my thing. The make up turned out AMAZING & I was so happy because my model was so happy with it! I can't wait to see the pictures & i'll definitely post them on here so you guys can see! On Monday, we worked with models again & even though the day was long, it was one of the most amazing days of my life. One of the only times that I don't feel like i'm on auto-pilot is when i'm doing make up because I just enjoy doing it so much & I actually feel like I have a purpose when i'm doing it. I'm going to post a picture of one of the models I did on Monday so you guys can see them! And as soon as Alexa sends me the pictures that she took i'll post them too! I hope that whoever reads this can find the one thing that makes them happy, because everyone deserves to experience the happiness that doing make up brings to me! Thank you so much for reading this! If there's anything you want me to blog about, just comment on this post or shoot me an e-mail!

Here's the picture of one of my models from Monday. Isn't she gorgeous?!

Make Up Tip #5

Don't Get Discouraged!

So, this isn't an actual technical tip... more like a little motivational post. Over this past week, I have become so motivated about my make up career. I'm so happy that I finally found my niche :)  If you love make up and want to pursue a career in it, don't let anything hold you back! I remember when I first considered being a make up artist, I would always get so mad at myself if I messed my eyeliner up or if I couldn't perfect a smokey eye. But then I realized that the beauty of make up is that if you make a mistake, you can just wipe it all off and start over. There's no permanence when applying make up (unless you choose to get it tattooed on!) As long as you're doing what you love, you just have to keep trying until you get it right. Don't ever let anyone discourage you from pursuing your dreams because at the end of the day, the only person's happiness that really matters is your own.

Catherine

Glam Academy!

Hello Everyone!

On Sunday I went to Hoboken, NJ for my 1st day of the Glam Academy and it was absolutely amazing. I've never had any professional make up training before, so this was an amazing experience and I left feeling so inspired that I wanted to come home and put make up on everyone I know. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Glam Academy, it is a certification program taught by Alexa Prisco (The Glam Fairy). This certification is different from other training because the students are taught tips and techniques on how to start their own businesses as well as valuable information about all types of make up and how to apply it in the most effective way for the client. I know that this program is going to be so beneficial for me in starting my career as a make up artist. I am so happy that I finally figured out what i'm supposed to do with my life.

I definitely plan on posting pictures as the Academy progresses! I'm so excited to share this experience with you guys. If you want to check out Alexa's website, you can go to www.theglamfairy.com

Thanks for reading! I'll update soon!

Make Up Tip #4

Dark Draws Attention

So, not everyone has the perfect face. Make up is amazing because it can create illusions and hide imperfections that make an individual self conscious. One illusion that can be created is the distance between your eyes. The darkest point of your eye make up is where people look first... so, if you want to make your eyes appear closer together, make the darkest part in the inner corner. If you want to make your eyes appear farther apart, make the darkest point in the outer corner. Make sense? This is a simple technique that anyone can do, and it definitely has a noticeable effect!

New Logo

It's kinda simple, just using this for now until my friend designs one for me to use :)

Make Up Tip #3

Never Wear Shimmer as your Eyebrow Highlight.

Okay, so of all the tips... this one might be the one most important. Shimmer eye shadows are designed to reflect a lot of light. They hardly absorb any as opposed to matte shadows that absorb all light. An eyebrow highlight should always be a light matte color. Shimmer as an eyebrow highlight looks especially tacky, especially in photos.

Make Up Tip #2

Easiest Way to Remove Your Make Up!

Okay, make up is great - but taking it off at night can sometimes be down right annoying. I just started using a new product to remove my make up at night and it is amazing. * drum-roll please* it's PONDS COLD CREAM. I heard of people using this to remove their make up, but I was very skeptical. I decided to buy it one day while I was at Wal Mart & I was shocked. It literally melts the make up off of your face. It even takes off eyeliner and mascara! All you have to do is rub it into your face and then wipe it off with a warm washcloth... wallah all of your make up is completely gone! It is so amazing. It's cost effective & really works. I definitely recommend trying this if you hate washing your make up off.

Make Up Tip #1

Always apply your eye make up first!

The other day me & my best friend took at class with Alexa Prisco "The Glam Fairy" and she gave us tons of helpful tips. One thing she said that really stuck out to me was the you should always apply your eye make up first. There are glands called sebaceous glands all over your face that produce oil. Oddly enough, there are no sebaceous glands in the eye area. By applying eye make up first & using eye shadow primer, the oils on the rest of the face can be blocked from spreading to your eye area which will reduce eye shadow creasing and increase the length of time that your eye make up stays put!

Introduction

Hey everyone, I am so excited to get this up & running! I figured on this blog that I could start by posting make up tips & tutorials. If there's anything you'd like to see me do, feel free to contact me!
